TRGS 520: Basic Course for the Acquisition of the Necessary Skills for the Handling of Dangerous Waste

gefährliche Abfälle in AbfallsammelstelleTRGS 520 is for the construction and the operation of stationary and mobile collection points and for interim storage facility for dangerous waste.  

For each collection point and for each interim storage facility, a reliable and experienced expert has to be chosen to be the responsible person and a substitute person that is respectively qualified. Due to safety reasons, a collection point has to be occupied by at least two persons as long as it is in operation. At least one of these persons has to fulfill the requirements of an expert.  

These experts have to have the required skills for the identification of dangers and for the necessary protection measures. The skills can be proved as acquired by participating successfully in a course according to appendix 3 of TRGS 520. In this three-day basic course, you are taught the necessary skills in handling dangerous waste. The course closes with a final exam (multiple choice questions).

  • The seminar is held according to the demands of TRGS 520 – basic training course for the acquisition of the appropriate skills for handling dangerous waste.

    -          Presentation of simple test methods and rapid test

    -          Law on hazardous substances, technical rules on hazardous substances
    -          Guidelines for explosion protection
    -          Regulation on hazardous goods roads and railroad, ADR agreement, exceptions
    -          Recycling and waste management, proof order, TA waste
    -          Federal pollution protection law
    -          Administrative violations
    -          Criminal code
    3.      Collection methods for hazardous waste in small quantities
    4.      Workplace supervision, gas testing methods
    -          Selection of appropriate equipment and methods, e.g. test tubes, explosimeters
    -          Handling
    -          Sources of error
    5.      Personal safety equipment
    -          Respiratory protection
    -          Protective clothing
    6.      Emergency measures in the case of an accident with dangerous or unidentified waste
    7.      Presentation and discussion of collection methods as well as occurred accidents
    8.      Pronunciation
    9.      Exam
