Pollution Risks in Land Recycling

contaminated substances in buildings?

Project management for controlled dismantling and contaminated building substances

In the course of dismantling buildings, especially concerning greater commercial and industrial buildings, there is a variety of regulations and legal guidelines, but also a lot of experiences to be considered. Management, planning and supervision of such measures, especially if further soil pollution is associated, demand extensive knowledge in the areas of environmental chemistry, construction and engineering, permitting and disposal management, procurement and contract services, labor and pollution control and construction supervision.

Pollutants in construction materials (primary stress) or contaminations associated with utilization are mainly present in industrial construction. The spectrum of possible contaminations is by far not covered by the usual “suspects” asbestos, PCB, tar, mineral fibres and wood preservatives. Furthermore, there is a connection between the time of construction or renovation of buildings and the expected problematic substances. Also, certain kinds of construction and utilization as well as the technical building equipment have specific problems with pollutants.
